
The Office of Vocational Education Commission (OVEC) hosts the 2nd Crown Jewel Vocational Education Competition, awarding the royal trophy from Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, focusing on fostering educational collaboration, workforce skill development, and sustainable growth.
A reporter stated that on 1 Mar 2026 GMT+7, the Ministry of Education, through the Office of Vocational Education Commission (OVEC), held the 2nd Crown Jewel Vocational Education Competition 2026 at Pathum Thani Vocational College in Mueang Pathum Thani District, Pathum Thani Province. The winner receives a royal trophy presented by Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, along with scholarships from Somdet Phra Maharatchamongkol Muni.
At the opening ceremony, Somdet Phra Maharatchamongkol Muni, Supreme Patriarch's Council member and Central Supreme Patriarch, Chair of the Romchat Foundation and the Confucius Institute on the Maritime Silk Road, presided. Present were H.E. Zhang Jianwei, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Thailand; Associate Professor Dr. Khunying Sumanda Promboon, President of Chitralada Technology Institute; Mr. Poolsak Pranutnorapal, Secretary-General of Romchat Foundation; Mr. Li Jinsong, Chairman of Tang International Education and Technology Co., Ltd.; Mrs. Nuanon Thamcharoen, Director of Chitralada Vocational School; delegations from the Confucius Institute on the Maritime Silk Road; and numerous stakeholders.
Mr. Yotphon Wenu-koset, Secretary-General of the Vocational Education Commission, assigned Mr. Narongchai Charoenrujitsap, Deputy Secretary-General, along with OVEC executives, school directors, teachers, and students to participate in the event.
On this occasion, Somdet Phra Maharatchamongkol Muni stated that the cooperation under the One Belt One Road initiative highlights human resource and vocational education development as key to connecting countries. This connection extends beyond infrastructure to link people, skills, and knowledge. Today's "Chinese Language + Vocational Skills" Crown Jewel Vocational Education Competition aligns closely with the initiative’s intent to foster educational cooperation, workforce skill development, and sustainable growth together.
He added that this platform exemplifies excellent preparation for Thai vocational youth to become the next generation workforce capable of working in multicultural environments, understanding languages, professions, and the world, and serving as a vital force in strengthening enduring Thai-Chinese cooperation.
Mr. Narongchai Charoenrujitsap, Deputy Secretary-General of the Vocational Education Commission, said the competition aims to select and honor outstanding vocational students with skills the country needs. It promotes integrating Chinese language skills alongside vocational skills to adapt to technological and innovative changes, preparing vocational personnel for economic and industrial development in the new era. Emphasizing Chinese language integration across all fields, this competition is a significant platform to develop the potential of vocational students nationwide. He congratulated all participants for demonstrating their full capabilities, stating this event will be a crucial force in producing quality personnel for the country's future.
The competition results are divided into two levels: the Certificate Vocational Education (Por Wor Chor) level and the Higher Vocational Certificate (Por Wor Sor) level, as follows.
The first-place winners receive the royal trophy from Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, a scholarship of 10,000 baht, a certificate, and a one-baht gold medal.
The silver runner-up prize includes a plaque, a 7,000 baht scholarship, and a silver medal.
The bronze runner-up prize includes a plaque, a 5,000 baht scholarship, and a bronze medal.
Additionally, there are seven Crown Jewel consolation prizes with certificates and 2,000 baht scholarships, 40 consolation prizes with certificates and 1,000 baht scholarships, and 50 pass certificates with honorary plaques. Schools receive certificates, and teachers and parents are acknowledged.
This competition is a collaboration among the Office of Vocational Education Commission, Romchat Foundation, Confucius Institute on the Maritime Silk Road, Chitralada Technology Institute, and the Education Section of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, along with domestic and international partners. It features six fields: 1) Railway Maintenance and Rail Transport Systems, 2) New Energy Vehicles (Electric Vehicles), 3) Intelligent Robotics, Mechatronics and Robotics, 4) Logistics, 5) Tourism and Hotel, and 6) Computer Graphics. Eighty-four educational institutions under OVEC, government, and private sectors participated with 807 students and 207 supervising teachers. This event showcased the potential of Thai vocational students, laying a foundation for developing quality national personnel and advancing sustainable international educational and vocational skill cooperation.
