Farmers Carrying Gallons Queue to Refill Diesel Fuel for Machinery Preparing Soil Before Planting

Farmers in Aranyaprathet carry gallons and queue starting fromearly morninghoping to refill diesel fuel, fearing a shortage for their machinery during soil preparation before planting. The gas station sympathizes and allows 100–200 liters per person.

On 19 Mar 2026 GMT+7, reporters at a gas station on the New Aranyaprathet–Rong Kluea Road in Sa Kaeo Province observed people queuing to buy fuel from 5:00 a.m. Farmers in the area brought cars, motorcycles, as well as gallon containers and other fuel-carrying vessels, forming a dense line stretching nearly one kilometer.

Interviews with locals waiting to fill fuel revealed many had come since the previous day but were told the station had run out and could not serve them. They were informed a fuel delivery truck would arrive in the morning, so they returned and waited from dawn to secure their turn. Currently, the highest-demand fuel is diesel, the main fuel for agricultural machinery. Most residents in the border district of Aranyaprathet, Sa Kaeo Province, work in sugarcane and cassava farming. They are now preparing soil for a new planting cycle before the rainy season, requiring extensive use of tractors, small trucks, and water pumps.

The gas station has relaxed rules to allow customers to bring gallon containers for refilling to help farmers who cannot bring machinery directly for fuel. It also limits the refill amount to about 100–200 liters per person to distribute the fuel more fairly.
