Family of Three Dies as Vegetable-Loaded Pickup Truck Loses Control and Falls Into Road Repair Trench

A pickup truck carrying vegetables to the market lost control and fell into a trench on a road under repair. The vehicle was badly damaged. A father, mother, and their son died. Rescue workers had to use hydraulic cutters to pry open the vehicle and remove the bodies.

At 03:00 on 26 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Police Lieutenant Atthasit Suriyawong, deputy investigator at Sam Phran Police Station, Nakhon Pathom, received a report of a pickup truck that fell into a trench on a road under repair with three people trapped and deceased inside. The incident occurred on Phetkasem Road heading into Bangkok at kilometer marker 35 + 400, Village No. 2, Tha Talat Subdistrict, Sam Phran District. Police and the Nakhon Pathom Suksala Foundation rescue team promptly responded to the scene.

Upon inspection, road surface repairs were underway with trenches dug along the road. A white Vigo pickup truck registered in Nakhon Pathom was found with severe front-end damage after colliding with the concrete road edge. Three bodies were trapped inside. Rescue workers from the Nakhon Pathom Suksala Foundation used hydraulic tools to extract the deceased: Mr. Nopparat Suangwongwai, 48; Ms. Sujiratta Ornchon, 46; and Mr. Eksit Suangwongwai, 18. The bodies were handed over to the foundation for detailed autopsy at Nakhon Pathom Hospital.

Preliminary findings indicate the three deceased were a father, mother, and son transporting vegetables to sell at the Krathum Baen market. Upon reaching the construction site, the vehicle lost control and plunged into the trench where the road surface had been excavated, causing the front of the truck to crash heavily against the concrete edge and resulting in all three fatalities. Police documented the scene with photographs and collected evidence. They will interview witnesses, review CCTV footage, and summon the contractor to verify whether warning signs were properly installed to determine the exact cause of the accident according to legal procedures.
