Phetchaburi Music Artist So Anon Passes Away Peacefully at Age 65

So Anon, a Phetchaburi music artist, singer, and songwriter behind songs such as “Ded Dok Cha-on,” “Roo Reuang,” and “Kaeng Krachan,” passed away peacefully at his home from cancer at age 65. His family plans to hold a funeral ceremony at Wat Pradit Wanaram, Ban Mo Subdistrict, Mueang Phetchaburi District, Phetchaburi Province, with a water-pouring rite on Tuesday, 7 April 2026, at 16:00.

On 7 April 2026, reporters received news of the passing of Phetchaburi singer-songwriter Anon Thosakul, known as "So Anon," who had been undergoing treatment for colorectal cancer for several months. Diagnosed in 2025, he received continuous care at Phetchaburi King Mongkut Hospital before returning home to recuperate. He passed away peacefully on the morning of 7 April 2026 at age 65.

Biography of So Anon, Phetchaburi Artist

So Anon was born on 30 July 1960 into a family of traditional Khon performers. He grew up to become a singer-songwriter focused on promoting the culture, traditions, and lifestyle of Phetchaburi residents. His famous songs include “Ded Dok Cha-on,” which tells the story of the traditional bullfighting sport of Phetchaburi, and “Roo Reuang,” which highlights the local Phetchaburi dialect.

So Anon received the Outstanding User of Local Thai Language Award from the National Culture Commission, Ministry of Culture, in 2010. In 2020, he was honored with the Thai Heritage Conservation Medal by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn for his support of national arts and culture under the Fine Arts Department, Ministry of Culture.

Additionally, So Anon founded the Friends of So Anon's House Bicycle Group, dedicated to preserving historic sites. The group combines study activities with raising awareness to protect temples and heritage sites in Phetchaburi. They participated in clearing invasive vegetation covering ancient sites such as Wat Tha Chang (an abandoned temple) in Tha Chang Subdistrict, Ban Lat District, working with the community to transform it into a beautiful place for worship and local history learning.

The Thosakul family has arranged the funeral rites for"So Anon"at Wat Pradit Wanaram, Ban Mo Subdistrict, Mueang Phetchaburi District, Phetchaburi Province, with the water-pouring ceremony scheduled on 7 April 2026 at 16:00.
