Tens of Thousands Enjoy Songkran Water Festival in Nakhon Pathom, Khao Mu Daeng Road Closed for 2 km for Water Play

For Songkran 2026, the Nakhon Pathom Water Festival closed a 2-kilometer stretch of Khao Mu Daeng Road to allow tens of thousands of tourists to splash water freely. A replica of the Phra Ruang Noi Buddha statue from Wat Phra Pathom Chedi was also brought for communal water pouring to bring good fortune.

On 16 April 2026, a reporter described the Songkran Water Festival atmosphere at Ratchadamnoen Road, also known as Ton Son Road or Khao Mu Daeng Road, in Phra Pathom Chedi Subdistrict, Mueang Nakhon Pathom District. Col. Dr. Sinthop Kaewpijit,Member of Parliament for Nakhon Pathom,and Mr. Somchok Phongkwan, Mayor of Nakhon Pathom City Municipality, jointly opened the 2026 Songkran tradition event for Nakhon Pathom Province. They closed Ton Son Road, also known as Khao Mu Daeng Road, for a 2-kilometer stretch to all vehicle traffic to allow the public tofully enjoy playing Songkran water games.In addition, they brought a replica of the Phra Ruang Noi Buddha statue from Wat Phra Pathom Chedito be enshrinedso the public could pour water on the Buddha statue to receive blessings and good fortune.


Along Ton Son Road, activities included concerts and foam parties. The Nakhon Pathom municipal disaster relief unit stationed fire trucks at various points to spray water on tourists. Police officers were present to maintain security and to check for weapons and intoxicants, which were strictly prohibited from entering the area.

Since the afternoon, thousands of people have come to enjoy the Songkran water festival with great enthusiasm. The road closure for water play is planned to continue until about 18:00 today.
