A team leader driving a pickup truck with workers lost control and veered into a roadside ditch. A metal angle over 2 meters long was propelled beneath the vehicle, piercing the driver's abdomen and causing his death in Sam Khok, Pathum Thani. The mother, upon seeing the body, broke down in tears and fainted.
At 09:20 on 29 April 2026, officers from Sam Khok Police Station received a report of a pickup truck accident where a roadside metal piece pierced the driver's abdomen, causing serious injury. The incident occurred on Highway 9 overpass (heading toward Bang Bua Thong), Bang Krabue Subdistrict, Sam Khok District, Pathum Thani Province. Authorities promptly coordinated with Poh Teck Tung Foundation volunteers and emergency rescue vehicles to inspect and assist.
At the scene, on the rightmost lane of the bridge, a gray Nissan Navara pickup truck with Bangkok license plates was found parked with the engine off. The driver was unconscious in the seat, with a 2-inch-wide metal angle about 1 meter long embedded in his abdomen. Rescue personnel attempted CPR but to no avail. The driver was pronounced dead, and police and forensic doctors from the Ministry of Justice were called to investigate.
Also present were two Myanmar workers. One, named Chueam, 42, stated that before the accident, the driver and team leader, Mr. Suban Roykaenchan, also known as“Sky”,aged 28 from Nakhon Ratchasima Province, was driving them from Lat Krabang to a construction site in Lat Lum Kaeo District. Upon reaching the accident site, something caused the vehicle to lose control, veering off the road into a roadside drainage ditch before stopping on the bridge. When the vehicle stopped, he saw a metal angle spring up from beneath the truck and pierce the leader’s abdomen.
Preliminary police inspection and photo documentation at the scene revealed the right front tire was flat with a puncture resembling metal penetration. A metal angle over 2 meters long was found lodged under the truck near the right rear tire. Authorities initially suspect the driver may have fallen asleep, causing the vehicle to veer right, with the front right tire entering a ditch lined with metal angles. One metal angle dislodged and was propelled into the vehicle, piercing the driver's abdomen and causing death. A detailed investigation will follow, and the body was handed over to the Poh Teck Tung Foundation for transport to the Ministry of Justice’s forensic institute for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Later, Ms. Benjamat Roykaenchan, 56, the deceased’s mother, arrived at the scene after hearing the news. Upon seeing her son Suban’s body with the metal angle piercing him inside the vehicle, she broke down crying uncontrollably and nearly fainted. Rescue workers had to support her and provide first aid inside a Poh Teck Tung Foundation volunteer vehicle.
