Brave 69-Year-Old Woman Kills Cobra That Bit Her Hand, Takes Its Carcass to Hospital for Antivenom

A brave 69-year-old woman was bitten on the hand by a cobra while lying on a hammock. She grabbed a knife and struck repeatedly until the snake died, then called her daughter to take her to the hospital for antivenom treatment, bringing the snake's carcass for the doctor to verify.

At 1:00 p.m. on 29 Apr 2026 GMT+7, reporters were informed of a cobra bite victim admitted to Banna Hospital in Nakhon Nayok Province. Upon investigation, the injured person was identified as Mrs. Sa-wang Prakatphon, 69, a resident of Thong Lang Subdistrict. She had a bite wound on her right hand, and relatives brought the dead cobra in a plastic bag for the doctor to confirm the snake's species.

When interviewed, Mrs. Sa-wang recounted the chilling incident. While dozing on a hammock under the house with her legs propped up as usual, her right hand accidentally dangled near the ground. At that moment, a cobra slithered in and bit her hand sharply. Startled by the pain, she awoke and grabbed a nearby knife, striking the snake repeatedly until it died instantly. She then called her daughter to take her to Banna Hospital.

Initially, doctors at Banna Hospital promptly administered cobra antivenom and admitted her for close observation.
