Residents of Moo 4-7, Na Mai Subdistrict, Lat Lum Kaeo District, Pathum Thani, gathered to protest that a contractor excavated and dismantled the U-turn road under the Khlong Na Mai Bridge (Bridge 6) but then abandoned the work, leaving water to pool in holes and pits, causing them great distress.
A reporter stated that around noon on 5 May 2026, residents from Moo 4-7, Na Mai Subdistrict, Lat Lum Kaeo District, Pathum Thani, assembled beneath the Khlong Na Mai Bridge (Bridge 6), a local U-turn point for residents and the public. They found that water was pooling under the bridge and the road had become full of holes and pits. The residents gathered to demand that the contractor fix and quickly repair the road to allow easier travel. Kittisak Kaewsri, Mayor of Na Mai Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO), along with SAO members, executives, Thawatchai Suriwong, headman of Na Mai Subdistrict, Paisan Singhapukam, village headman of Moo 7, and community leaders joined to listen to the problem and negotiate with representatives of the contractor company. The company sent Sunisa Mungsangket, coordinator of the company holding the concession from the Nonthaburi Highway District, to negotiate a resolution.
Kittisak Kaewsri, Mayor of Na Mai SAO, said this area is in Moo 6, Na Mai Subdistrict, and is used by residents and the public as a U-turn point under the bridge. About three months ago, a contractor company hired by the Nonthaburi Highway District, Department of Highways, began resurfacing and special maintenance under the Khlong Na Mai Bridge. However, after excavation, no further work was done, causing significant inconvenience because this route is heavily used by residents from Moo 4-7 and the general public, especially in Lat Lum Kaeo District. He urged the responsible agency to assist the residents, both pedestrians and drivers, who are truly suffering. The responsible party is the Nonthaburi Highway District, which hired the contractor but did not ensure continuation of work. Residents had previously complained to him, and the SAO has continuously coordinated, but problems have recurred after attempted fixes.
This location is known as the Khlong Na Mai Bridge or Bridge 6, well known to locals. The problem worsens near school openings because children must walk around the area beneath the bridge.
Therefore, they request improvements because whenever it rains, everyone sees the area full of holes and pits. He thanked Saroj Suksri for approving the budget for this work but urged the contractor to proceed with repairs to alleviate residents' suffering.
A resident representative said that whenever it rains, the road condition worsens, becoming bumpy and uneven. Sometimes traffic jams occur, and vehicles sustain damage. There have been multiple accidents. Travel is very difficult.
The village headman added that this road is very important. A contractor began dismantling it over three months ago. The area under the bridge is a U-turn point where cars and motorcycles have had accidents, including falls causing broken legs. The problem stems from the potholes that remain unrepaired. He urged relevant agencies to act with compassion for those traveling and all residents using this route, which is a main road in Lat Lum Kaeo District. He requested urgent action as the school term is approaching, noting that the main road cannot be crossed by students and the public due to lack of a pedestrian bridge.
Sunisa Mungsangket, coordinator for the contractor company holding the concession, said they will temporarily patch the road surface to ease residents' difficulties. Currently, rain causes flooding that makes travel difficult and inconvenient. They will compact and smooth the surface as a temporary measure to relieve the public's hardship. If rain causes more holes, they will promptly repair them to facilitate residents’ travel. Today, they met with the mayor and residents to discuss improving travel convenience.
The project will bring in heavy equipment within three days to build water barriers preventing floods from the canal and stop water accumulation during rain. They will expedite work and complete permanent repairs within two months. This project is managed by the Nonthaburi Highway District.
