Two Dead as Motorcyclists Avoid Accident, Hit Police Car, and Fall from Sa Likho Overpass in Nonthaburi

Two motorcyclists tragically died after colliding with a police vehicle investigating a roadside accident, then crashing into a barrier and falling from the Sa Likho overpass in Nonthaburi. Police are urgently investigating the cause.

At 23:20 on 27 May 2026, officers from Chaiyaphruek Police Station received a report of a car that ran out of fuel on the Sa Likho overpass in Bang Phlap Subdistrict, Pak Kret District, Nonthaburi. A motorcycle following behind rear-ended the car, injuring one person, and another motorcycle behind that grazed a police patrol vehicle before losing control, hitting the bridge barrier, and falling below. Two people died. Rescue volunteers from Poh Teck Tung Foundation and medical teams from the Institute of Forensic Science were dispatched to the scene.

At the scene on the Sa Likho overpass (heading toward Bang Bua Thong), a black MG car with Bangkok license plates was stopped in the left lane, out of fuel. The driver was identified as Mr. Jakkrawat, 40, a government employee. A black Honda Forza 350 motorcycle with Bangkok plates had crashed heavily into the rear of the car. Both vehicles were badly damaged. The rider, Mr. Chitiphan Montienthong, 44, suffered a broken right arm. Rescue workers provided first aid and took him to a nearby hospital.

About 50 meters away, a red Honda PCX motorcycle with Bangkok plates lost control and grazed a Chaiyaphruek police patrol car parked at the first accident scene, breaking its left side mirror. The motorcycle then collided with the bridge barrier and fell approximately 15–20 meters below. The rider was identified as Mr. Surasak Champadaeng, 31, from Nakhon Sawan Province, and the passenger as Ms. Nantaporn Thiri, 33, from Uthai Thani Province. Both died at the scene.

Mr. Jakkrawat, the driver of the car that ran out of fuel, said the incident occurred around 22:30 while he was driving onto the Sa Likho overpass when the car stalled, likely due to running out of fuel, and could not continue. He turned on the hazard lights and called for help. While waiting, a motorcycle rear-ended his car, injuring the rider. He then called for rescue to take the injured person to the hospital. Rescue and police vehicles arrived to block the road and manage traffic.

About 15 minutes later, a red motorcycle approached at high speed, passing traffic cones, then grazed the police patrol vehicle before losing control and crashing into the bridge barrier. The rider and passenger fell below and died. Mr. Jakkrawat said he was very shocked and believed slippery roads from rain might have contributed, although police were controlling the area at the time.

Initially, Pol. Col. Wutthichai Sukonthawit, superintendent of Chaiyaphruek Police Station, inspected the scene and will urgently request the Department of Rural Roads to install protective barrier panels to prevent similar accidents. Police are continuing to examine evidence at the scene to determine the exact cause.
