Chachoengsao: Road with 12 Million Baht Budget Collapses in Less Than a Year, Residents Urge Authorities for Immediate Repair

In Chachoengsao, a road costing over 12 million baht was completed less than a year ago but has already deteriorated. Residents fear accidents and urge the media to act as their voice to pressure authorities for urgent repair and inspection.

On 30 May 2026 in Chachoengsao province, reporters observed that at Ban Thaleap Road, Village No. 2, Tha Kradan Subdistrict, Sanam Chai Khet District, many parents, village health volunteers, residents, farmers, local leaders, and representatives from several villages gathered to express concerns through the media. They worried because the road, finished less than a year ago, was damaged and frequently caused accidents. Now, with students returning to school, the damaged road stretches extensively, and they wonder who they can rely on.

Mr. Phanuwat Sriwihok, a village representative, took reporters on a tour of nearly three kilometers of road showing patchy damage. Vehicles, especially those unfamiliar with the route, had to swerve dangerously, nearly leaving the road. Phanuwat said residents wondered why the road, which looked fine when finished, kept deteriorating. They reported the issue to Mr. Paitoon Ningnong, a member of the Tha Kradan Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO), asking him to coordinate with Chachoengsao Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) to fix it. However, the PAO only performed patch repairs, which worsened the damage.

Phanuwat showed a yellow sign stating the Chachoengsao Provincial Administrative Organization's project to improve the asphalt concrete surface of Ban Thaleap Road from Village 2 to Village 14 in Tha Kradan Subdistrict, Sanam Chai Khet District, extending to Ban Ang Toei Village 9 in Tha Takiap Subdistrict, Tha Takiap District. The road length is 2,750 meters. The contract started on 14 May 2024 and ends on 10 September 2025. The damage warranty period is from May 2025 to 6 August 2027, with a budget of 12,899,836.97 baht.

The unusual observation is the road condition. According to residents, the road, finished less than a year ago, is already damaged. They requested the Tha Kradan SAO to coordinate with Chachoengsao PAO for repairs but found the contractor only did patchwork. As a result, the road, though appearing fine, is of poor quality and substandard, causing repeated accidents. Residents and parents are worried for their children as schools reopen.

While residents gathered, cars from outside the area had to swerve abruptly to avoid damaged spots, nearly veering off the road. There was also a local rider transporting galangal shoots who fell due to the poor road condition but was fortunate to be traveling slowly. Other vehicles had to swerve repeatedly, causing unsafe driving conditions.

The united residents appealed through the media, placing hope in the authorities with full power to relieve the troubles of many villages from two subdistricts in two districts. They seek safety from the risk of accidents on Ban Thaleap Road, which is a main shared route.
