The Superintendent of Sa Kaeo Immigration confirms that the Ban Khlong Luk border checkpoint in Aranyaprathet district remains fully closed. Only emergency patient admissions and deportation of individuals according to procedure are allowed.
On 1 June 2026, following rumors about the reopening of border checkpoints in Sa Kaeo province, reporters visited the border area and asked Pol. Col. Rung Thongmon, Superintendent of Sa Kaeo Immigration. He confirmed that all border checkpoints remain 100% closed under current measures, with no reopening for the public, students, or business operators to travel as usual. All border points remain strictly closed at 100 percent. He noted that the reports might stem from misunderstandings or unverified information dissemination.
Regarding sightings of individuals passing through the checkpoint at certain times, officials explained these actions are conducted only under humanitarian and legal measures, not as normal border crossing. Such cases include deporting persons after legal procedures are completed, receiving Thai citizens with emergency illnesses, or other humanitarian cases approved by relevant authorities. Furthermore, students who previously crossed the border to study in Thailand still cannot travel freely because the closure measures remain in effect.
Meanwhile, a site visit in front of the Ban Khlong Luk border checkpoint in Aranyaprathet district found the area still quiet, with no public crossing, no buses or student transport vehicles, and no commercial activities that used to be lively when the checkpoint was normally open. Local officials expressed concern that online reports could confuse the public and impact the operations of security agencies, including immigration officers, the Burapha Task Force, and related units, all of whom must strictly follow established measures.
Citizens are advised to rely on information from official government sources and trustworthy news outlets, and to verify facts before sharing or forwarding information. This is to prevent misunderstandings about the border situation that could affect public confidence, security, and daily life in the area.
