On 4 June 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that a former inmate invested with a friend to open a business selling Chanthaburi durian, creating a livelihood after release along the Pho Phraya – Tha Ruea road in Mueang district, in front of Ang Thong provincial prison. This initiative is supported by Mr. Thitinai Patikabut, the prison chief of Ang Thong, who helps create livelihoods for inmates to earn a living after release in various professions such as boxers, chefs, restaurant cooks, car wash attendants, musicians, and traders. Previously, Ang Thong prison has provided vocational training leading many to secure stable jobs after release.

A 40-year-old former inmate said he trained as a chef and in trading after release. With durian demand rising, he received support from the prison chief and partnered with a friend to sell Chanthaburi durian purchased at 120 baht per kilogram.
