Pork Butcher Shocked to Find Mysterious Womans Body on Car Backseat While Preparing to Open Shop

A pork stall owner was shocked when, while parking his sedan to prepare for opening his shop, he turned to pick up his bag and felt a foot pressing against the rear seat. He then discovered the body of an unknown woman lying deceased in his car's backseat.

At 23:30 on 15 July 2026, Police Lieutenant Thanandon Saengkham, Investigation Officer at Samrong Tai Police Station in Samut Prakan Province, received a report of a deceased person found inside a vehicle near the entrance of the Ha Hong Keng Huk Tung Shrine (Thap Shrine) on Old Tram Road, Village No. 8, Samrong Klang Subdistrict, Phra Pradaeng District, Samut Prakan Province. He coordinated with forensic doctors from Bangchak Hospital, forensic evidence officers, and volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation to inspect the scene.

At the scene, a black Nissan Teana sedan registered in Bangkok was found with a deceased woman lying on the backseat. She was identified as Mrs. Sasithorn, 67, from Tai Ban Mai Subdistrict, Mueang Samut Prakan District, Samut Prakan Province. She wore a brown-black floral shirt and blue long pants. The body was lying on its side against the backseat. Forensic doctors and police examined the body and estimated she had been dead for approximately 6-7 hours. There were no signs of assault, and no evidence of a struggle inside the car.

Police then met with Mr. Chanasin, 63, the car owner and pork stall proprietor at Samrong Market, who was visibly shocked and provided statements to the authorities.

Initial inquiries revealed that Mr. Chanasin had parked his car at an apartment in Santikham Alley, Mueang Samut Prakan District, at around 05:00 on 15 July 2026. Later, at 22:20, he drove the car from the apartment to open his shop at Samrong Market.

Upon arriving at the scene at about 22:50, he parked and opened the car door, then noticed the deceased woman on the backseat. He immediately notified authorities to investigate. He confirmed he did not know the deceased and was unaware when she had entered the car, as the car's central locking system had been broken for some time.

Currently, the investigation team is reviewing CCTV footage from the apartment and the location where the body was found to determine when the deceased entered the vehicle.

Investigations revealed the deceased lived in Mueang Pak Nam District (Subphunyachai Alley). Her son had come to the scene to identify the body, confirming it was his mother. It was also learned that she had been reported missing the previous day at Samut Prakan City Police Station.

Authorities have sent the deceased's body to the Police Hospital's Forensic Institute for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. The body will then be handed over to relatives for funeral rites according to their religious customs.

Mr. Chanasin, the car owner, said in an interview that he had driven from his residence to sell pork at the market. Normally, his car doors were unlocked because the central locking system had been broken for a long time, and the car was over 10 years old. He discovered the deceased only when reaching to pick up his bag and felt a foot pushing against the backseat. When he looked back, he was shocked to find a woman lying on the rear seat. He did not know when she had gotten into the car and insisted he had never met or seen the deceased before.

Sergeant Phirachai Longla, patrol supervisor at Samrong Tai Police Station, said he received a report via the 191 radio center about a deceased person found inside a car. Upon arrival, he found an elderly woman lying dead in the backseat.

He inquired with the car owner, who said the car doors were not locked because the central locking system was broken. The owner parked the car at the scene without knowing the deceased was inside the backseat. A market vendor who noticed the situation called police via 191. The car owner did not know when the deceased got in or the cause of death. Authorities will continue to investigate.
