Relatives Ask for Forgiveness for Pickup Driver Who Nearly Hit Guy-Haru Children, Confirm Left Leg Disabled, Now Deceased

Relatives have asked for forgiveness for the pickup driver who nearly hit the children of "Guy-Haru," confirming he had a disability in his left leg and has now passed away. His wife, tearfully raising her hands in apology, said that on the day of the incident, her husband was going to pick her and their child up from the hospital and she believes it was unintentional.

Following the viral social media clip of a frightening incident near Rom Hup Market in Samut Songkhram Province, where actor Guy Ratchanont and Haru Supakob were crossing the street with their children and a pickup truck suddenly sped toward them nearly hitting the kids, a person claiming to be the driver’s grandchild stated that the driver had lost his left leg and used a prosthetic. On the day of the incident, he was driving to pick up his wife and newborn child, but has since died in an accident.

Recently, Police Lieutenant Colonel Songat Baobapdee, Deputy Superintendent of Samut Songkhram City Police Station, visited the wife’s home of the pickup driver shown in Haru’s video to verify the facts. He also brought baby diapers and essential supplies as initial assistance.

Before inspecting the vehicle shown in the clip, it was found to be a manual transmission pickup truck with a stiff clutch system. It is believed the driver, wearing a prosthetic left leg, had difficulty pressing the clutch. The location is an uphill area called "Khao Lang Tao." If the driver lacked skill or physical readiness, this could have affected vehicle control, leading to the incident.

The pickup driver’s wife tearfully apologized, saying, “At that time, my husband was driving to pick me and our child up from the hospital. From what I saw in the clip, he seemed to be pressing the clutch hard to get the vehicle up the hill. He has a prosthetic left leg. It was not intentional. I want to apologize to Guy and Haru. My husband didn’t mean to do it. Because of his prosthetic leg, he had to push the clutch hard to climb the hill. My husband passed away on 24 May. He had a motorcycle accident on 7 May and was hospitalized for about 17 days.”

The driver’s wife added, “Seeing the news like this makes me even more stressed. I have no breast milk for my child, so my baby has to drink special formula because of a cow’s milk allergy. I want to ask for forgiveness for my husband. If he behaved improperly or caused any harm, I apologize. He has now passed away and cannot explain anything. I truly apologize.”

Meanwhile, the wife’s older sister said, “We want to contact the media because we don’t want this kind of thing to happen again. We don’t know exactly what happened because the person involved has passed away. This happened three months ago, since April. He was my brother-in-law. Now that he is gone, he cannot explain what happened. But his left leg was really bad, so driving uphill was difficult. If he made a mistake, we apologize on his behalf. But please don’t attack someone who has already died. We ask for forgiveness and want the matter to end. Some people say don’t pretend, but this is 100% true. The driver really did die in an accident. We want to apologize on his behalf.”

Police Lieutenant Colonel Songat Baobapdee, Deputy Superintendent of Samut Songkhram City Police Station, disclosed that the police have not ignored the social media incident because it affects the image of Samut Songkhram Province. They traced the driver’s address and inspected the vehicle, which was a manual transmission pickup with a stiff clutch. They learned the driver had passed away and was a man with a left leg disability, which matches the difficulty pressing the clutch with the left foot. The accident spot is an uphill area called Khao Lang Tao, where even able-bodied drivers may find clutch control difficult if inexperienced. The officer asked social media users to discuss the matter reasonably and not insult or criticize since the driver has passed away, leaving a young child for his wife to care for. It appears the clutch issue caused the accident, and there was no intent to hit anyone.
