The head of Thung Yai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary refuted rumors of a timber processing factory inside the forest, stating that strict patrol teams operate continuously and secure checkpoints are in place to prevent illegal acts.

On 18 Aug 2026 GMT+7, in response to online rumors claiming that investors secretly established a timber processing factory inside the western Thung Yai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary, which sparked heavy criticism,

Mr. Supharuk Klanprasert, head of the western Thung Yai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary, personally confirmed that "this is not true."


Upon learning of the rumors, officials immediately conducted thorough investigations and intelligence gathering on site. The results showed no evidence or traces of any clandestine timber processing factory as alleged. The agency has continuously deployed intensive Smart Patrol teams covering the entire forest area at all times, alongside tightly controlled entry and exit points. These efforts involve coordination with security agencies, including military and police, in line with Department of National Parks policies to fully prevent illegal activities.

"We want everyone to be confident that the Thung Yai Naresuan forest is being cared for to the highest standard. We ask for cooperation in verifying information before sharing, and to refrain from forwarding untrue reports as they may cause panic and disrupt the work of personnel," said the head of the wildlife sanctuary.
