Relevant agencies inspected the site planned for a Jewish cemetery in Chachoengsao, estimating four bodies present. They are preparing to push for removal and proceed according to the law.
Following widespread discussions about the Jewish community in Thailand planning a new cemetery called “New Jewish Cemetery” or JEWISH CEMETERY THAILAND, which reportedly could accommodate about 1,200 burials, questions arose in Chachoengsao Province regarding the location and feasibility. It was found that the site is in Samet Tai Subdistrict, Bang Khla District, Chachoengsao Province. The provincial governor ordered all districts to investigate and initially found no burials, but later corrected this to confirm one burial on site.
The latest development, at 15:30 on 4 Sep 2026 GMT+7, saw officials inspect the cemetery. The private company owning the land provided a letter permitting inspection but did not allow media or private agency officials to enter the site.
Kamnan Namphueng Kham Sa-ard, the headman of Samet Tai Subdistrict and village representative, observed the inspection. He reported that inside the cemetery, three spots have been sealed with cement, while another spot remains unsealed but is surrounded by stones and marked with a sign dated 2025. It is estimated there may be four bodies there. A tent was set up to conceal the area. The landowner urged authorities to expedite the inspection and questioned why the permit could not be renewed, insisting all procedures were lawful. Bang Khla District officials confirmed they will enforce the law and take firm action.
Mr. Kittipong Siluang, chief of the Samet Tai Subdistrict Administrative Organization, said that officials inspecting the site today found a total of four bodies. One burial was within the permit period, while the other three likely occurred after the permit expired, violating regulations. The subdistrict administration will do its utmost to push for removal and assures residents not to worry.
Meanwhile, local residents waiting for the inspection expressed fear and concern over potential environmental impacts, as the site is centrally located in the community. They said they have never met the landowner but have encountered people burying second bodies. When asked how they obtained permission, those burying said they were sent there, causing great anxiety among neighbors.
