A 43-year-old woman filed a complaint with Lat Lum Kaeo Police Station after a group pretending to be good Samaritans—claiming to be police officers—requested to search her, then threatened and forced her into a car to be taken for prosecution, despite her innocence of any crime.
According to reports, on the evening of 4 Sep 2026, Mrs. Jane (alias), 43, from Bang Prok Subdistrict, Mueang District, Pathum Thani Province, went to meet Acting Police Lieutenant Colonel Natthaphon Udonoi, investigation inspector at Lat Lum Kaeo Police Station, to file a complaint against individuals impersonating police officers who threatened, unlawfully detained, and assaulted her. She vowed to pursue full legal action due to the damage and humiliation caused.
Mrs. Jane said the incident began around 03:00 on 1 Sep 2026, when she traveled from Lat Lum Kaeo District to visit her daughter, who lives near Hong Pathumawas Temple. Since her daughter was not home, Mrs. Jane stayed and relaxed at the temple pavilion in Bang Prok Subdistrict with a female friend named Pook, who also lives nearby. She then fell asleep until suddenly six people—three men and three women—came to wake her and requested to search her.
One man wearing a vest claimed to be an investigative police officer, and a woman in a red shirt said she was a female police officer. Another woman was then allowed to search Mrs. Jane and her handbag but found no illegal items. However, they found two methamphetamine pills on Pook, Mrs. Jane's friend.
After the search, another man called the police. Soon, two patrol officers from Pathum Thani City Police Station arrived. Upon their arrival, the man claiming to be an officer ordered Mrs. Jane and her friend into a white Toyota car—license plate unknown—and took them to Pathum Thani City Police Station.
At Pathum Thani City Police Station, the man posing as an investigator handed Mrs. Jane and Pook over to the real police. Later, the police informed Mrs. Jane she was free to go, while Pook was arrested with the two methamphetamine pills.
After being released, Mrs. Jane left the station and discovered that 400 baht in cash and her mobile phone were missing from her bag. She confronted the group impersonating police officers about the missing items, but they denied any knowledge.
The group then pressured Mrs. Jane, accusing her of distributing and trafficking drugs, and also accused her of motorcycle theft. They asked where the motorcycle was because they found a motorcycle key in her bag. Mrs. Jane insisted the key belonged to her but the motorcycle was broken down.
The group threatening to be police officers then intimidated her, insisting on taking her to a house in Ra Haeng Subdistrict, Lat Lum Kaeo District. They forced her into the back seat of a car, with a man and woman who claimed to be officers sitting beside her, while another man followed behind on a motorcycle throughout the journey.
During the trip, they questioned her about where her residence was to take her home and claimed they wanted to search her house. They also threatened her by asking where she got the drugs, but she denied everything and refused to be taken home. While in the car, the woman claiming to be a female officer kept poking her with an arm. Eventually, the entire group brought her to Lat Lum Kaeo Police Station, saying they would arrest her and hand her over to the police.
Upon arrival at Lat Lum Kaeo Police Station, the group parked the car in front of the station. The driver and the man wearing the vest took Mrs. Jane to the complaint room. Real police officers came out and asked for details of the incident. The group requested that the police check Mrs. Jane's background.
Police checked and found that Mrs. Jane was a resident of Mueang Pathum Thani District and had no criminal record. The police also questioned the two men: the driver said he was a market vendor, and the man in the vest claimed to be an investigative officer.
As Mrs. Jane prepared to leave and return to her daughter's home in Pathum Thani District, the woman in the red shirt approached her, insulted her, and accused her of lying. Mrs. Jane left the complaint room, which angered the woman in red, who then pushed Mrs. Jane from behind, assaulting her. Mrs. Jane returned to the complaint room and informed the police that the woman had assaulted her, leading to a dispute. The group became displeased and left, and Mrs. Jane returned to her residence.
Today (4 Sep 2026), Mrs. Jane came to file a formal complaint with investigators to prosecute the group for unlawful detention, assault, and related offenses, seeking full legal penalties until the case is resolved. She also mentioned seeing videos and news reports where this group claimed to be good Samaritans. She asked, "Is this what being a good Samaritan means?" They impersonated police and continuously threatened her. She wants society to know that such individuals still exist.
