A fire broke out at a large snack manufacturing factory in the Om Noi area of Samut Sakhon Province. Authorities deployed nearly 50 fire trucks to control the incident. Damage is estimated to be in the tens of millions of baht. The cause is under investigation by officials who are conducting inquiries into the matter.
At approximately 07:30 on 7 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Pol. Col. Phasaphong Monta, Superintendent of Krathum Baen Police Station, received a report of a fire at a major snack producer in Village 7, Om Noi Subdistrict, Krathum Baen District, Samut Sakhon Province. He, along with Pirunrot Nakdonthree, District Chief of Krathum Baen, Boonchu Niltanom, Mayor of Om Noi Municipality, Anutara Pangputhipong, Head of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation of Samut Sakhon Province, and other relevant officials, proceeded to inspect the scene.
The scene is a major snack manufacturing company in Samut Sakhon Province. The company’s premises are divided into several buildings, including an office building, production building, equipment storage, and finished product storage. The fire broke out in the two-story production building, covering about half a rai (approximately 800 square meters). Inside were machinery, various raw materials for production, and packaging materials. The fire flared up intensely, breaking through the building’s roof.
Firefighters from the Om Noi Municipal Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Center, along with fire trucks and support vehicles from Samut Sakhon and nearby areas—over 50 vehicles in total—quickly mobilized to spray water from all directions to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring buildings within the same area. Fortunately, they managed to contain the blaze within a limited area. Although it took more than three hours, the fire did not spread further or worsen significantly.
Inquiries revealed the fire started this morning around 06:30, when about three employees arrived at the company to start up the production line machinery and prepare the equipment before work began. Shortly after the machines were turned on, the fire rapidly ignited and became difficult to control. Firefighters were called in to manage the situation, but the flames spread quickly and fiercely, causing damage estimated at several tens of millions of baht. Officials must wait for the fire to be fully extinguished before police coordinate with forensic specialists to investigate the precise cause.
