A worker shuttle bus’s rear tire burst causing brake failure, leading it to crash into the rear of another worker shuttle bus at the Ban It traffic light intersection in Ang Thong province. Twenty-five people were injured and rescued to hospital.
At 07:00 on 23 July 2026, Police Lieutenant Wut Ngamprasert, Deputy Traffic Inspector of Ang Thong City Police Station, received a report of a worker shuttle bus crashing into the rear of another bus with many injured at the Ban It traffic light intersection, Ban It subdistrict, Mueang district, Ang Thong province. He promptly went to the scene with emergency medical staff from Ang Thong Hospital, rescue teams, and Poh Teck Tung Foundation volunteers.
At the scene, many injured were found, all factory workers from a plant in Ayutthaya province. Initially, 25 were found with minor injuries. Authorities urgently transported them to hospital for examination and treatment.
Mr. Kasemsan Niamrungruang, the driver of the bus registered in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, said he picked up factory workers from Chaiyo district to take them to Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province. Upon reaching the red light at the accident spot, another worker shuttle bus crashed into the rear, causing injuries.
Mr. Wichian Pimket, the other bus driver, said he picked up 40 workers to take them to their workplace in Ayutthaya. When arriving at the scene, his rear tire burst and brakes failed, causing him to crash into the bus ahead and injure 25 people.
Police Lieutenant Manit Nakpaiboon, Deputy Investigation Inspector, is urgently examining CCTV footage and dashboard cameras, and interviewing both drivers to find the true cause of the accident following legal procedures.
