The Chao Phraya Dam has maintained its water discharge at 1,950 cubic meters per second for the second consecutive day to reduce impacts on economic areas downstream and is monitoring for increased rainfall.
On 27 Sep 2026 GMT+7, reporters observed that water levels in the Chao Phraya basin continue to rise steadily due to heavy rains in the upper dam areas. At water monitoring station C.2 in Mueang District, Nakhon Sawan Province, water flow measured 1,849 cubic meters per second. At station C.13 at the Chao Phraya Dam in Sapphaya District, Chainat Province, the water level upstream of the dam was 17.06 meters above mean sea level, while downstream was 14.52 meters, with the water level 1.82 meters below the riverbank. The dam has maintained its discharge rate at 1,950 cubic meters per second for the second day to manage inflows from the north and minimize damage to economic areas downstream in Singburi, Ang Thong, Ayutthaya, and Bangkok.
Flooding in Chainat Province, both upstream and downstream of the Chao Phraya Dam, including flash floods, has affected residents in four districts, covering 11 subdistricts, 23 villages, and one community. In total, 135 households with 302 people and 120 homes have been impacted, along with damage to 125 rai of agricultural land.
However, if rainfall increases today, discharge rates may need to be adjusted upward. Meanwhile, residents are urged to remain vigilant by closely following weather forecasts from the Meteorological Department and water situation updates from the Royal Irrigation Department.
