In Kanchanaburi, rain continues unabated, prompting warnings for four subdistricts in Thong Pha Phum District about the risk of flash floods and landslides. In Sai Yok District, a pickup truck was swept away by floodwaters, and three people were rescued, narrowly escaping death.
On 27 Sep 2026 GMT+7, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) issued warnings to residents in Lin Thin, Pilok, Huai Kheng, and Chalae subdistricts of Thong Pha Phum District, Kanchanaburi Province, due to ongoing rainfall. Over the next one to two days, they advised vigilance against sudden floods, flash floods, landslides, and riverbank overflows, particularly in low-lying areas and at the base of hills.
Meanwhile, in Kanchanaburi, Ms. Warittha Sanguansermsri, the provincial governor, assigned Mr. Wuttipong Supakwanich, the deputy governor, to monitor conditions in Bo Phloi District. Several locations still had adequate drainage, but some areas experienced slight riverbank overflow, especially in Lum Rang Subdistrict. At the K49 water gauge near the high rubber bridge in Village No. 4, Lum Rang, water had slightly overflowed riverbanks but did not disrupt traffic. At Nong Kham Bridge in Village No. 3, authorities used backhoe trucks to clear branches and debris to improve water flow, resulting in better drainage.
In Nong Ri Subdistrict, particularly Villages 2 and 5, which receive water from Lam I Su and Kraproi reservoirs, the situation remained normal but water levels require continuous monitoring. Likewise, in Bo Phloi, Nong Kum, and Chong Dan subdistricts, some areas still need close observation.
At Ban Prajamai, Village 4, Huai Kheng Subdistrict, Thong Pha Phum District, Kanchanaburi, since evening until now, floodwaters have entered homes located near streams and water retention weirs. At Ban Hin Laem, Tha Khanun Subdistrict, water has also accumulated. Rescue teams are urgently evacuating residents and belongings to alleviate initial hardships caused by flooding.
Additionally, Mr. Jesada Prateep, an emergency medical worker from the Pitak Kanchanaburi Foundation at the Sri Mongkhon station, reported an incident where a local resident's pickup truck was swept away by strong currents from a road submerged in water in Huai Ta Sot (Nong Kraduk Chang) area, Ban Nong Srimongkhon, Village 4, Sri Mongkhon Subdistrict, Sai Yok District, Kanchanaburi Province. The driver and two passengers, all male family members, were inside.
At the incident site, the current was strong and the water reached waist height. After the event, all three were trapped inside the vehicle but managed to climb out and cling to a tree. Authorities and villagers promptly rescued them. The vehicle remains submerged and will be recovered once water levels recede.
In Ban Pak Saeng community, within the Nam Tok Sai Yok Noi Municipality, Sai Yok District, Kanchanaburi Province, located along the Kwae Noi River, water levels have risen to flood homes, resorts, and floating raft accommodations. The water has risen approximately 5 to 6 meters above normal, matching the flood levels seen in 2024. Residents have moved belongings onto floating rafts and gradually relocated them to higher ground.
Police Sergeant Rakprasong Saensom, Mayor of Nam Tok Sai Yok Noi Subdistrict Municipality, led disaster prevention and mitigation staff to assist the Pak Saeng community in moving belongings to higher areas. They set up tents as a relief center and coordinated with the Kanchanaburi Rescue Foundation to bring boats for assistance. Rescue teams also surveyed flood areas and helped some stranded tourists at resorts and raft accommodations. Resort and hotel staff continue to monitor the Kwae Noi River's situation.
The resort and raft owners described a tense moment, saying they had been monitoring conditions, but at around 2:00 a.m. last night, water levels rose rapidly. They notified customers to gradually evacuate the riverside raft accommodations to safer locations and return home. They did not expect the flood to rise so high and so quickly this year, causing severe damage to the resort.
