Chachoengsao faces a massive water overflow at the spillway of Si Yat Reservoir, expected to take 3-5 days to resolve, while the province has announced additional flood disaster zones.
On 29 Sep 2026 GMT+7, reporters covered the water situation in Chachoengsao. Mrs. Sirirat Phakdisri, Amphoe Tha Takiap Chief, continues to coordinate with subdistrict heads, village chiefs, Tha Takiap volunteer companies, rescue teams, and Tha Takiap Subdistrict administrative organization defense teams to patrol by flat-bottom boats. They found villagers forced to float in floodwaters carrying belongings to escape, with some beginning to face food shortages as roads are cut off by water, preventing exit.
At the Khlong Si Yat Reservoir, the water appears dark coffee-colored. Mr. Arthit Chonsiyad, Director of the Khao Rabam Si Yat Reservoir Project, revealed that the main upstream water flow above the Si Yat dam is still pouring heavily into the reservoir, causing water to overflow the spillway and flow downstream from the dam for about 3-5 days before gradually subsiding.
The latest situation shows the water level at +65.09 meters above mean sea level, with reservoir volume at 426.03 million cubic meters. This exceeds the normal storage capacity by 6.03 million cubic meters. Water passing over the spillway continues to increase steadily, flowing into Khlong Si Yat starting from Bo Sai waterfall and tributaries along the canal through Tha Takiap, Sanam Chai Khet, Phanom Sarakham, Plaeng Yao, Hua Samrong, Bang Khla, Ratchasan, Ban Pho, and Mueang Chachoengsao districts.
Meanwhile, reporters stated that the Chachoengsao Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command has declared additional disaster zones in various areas across the province.
