
The body of Sergeant Major Peerayut Nawilai Charoen, known as Sergeant 'Queue', who died while defending sovereignty at the border area in Aranyaprathet district, was taken for an autopsy before being sent back for religious ceremonies.
On 27 Dec 2025, the First Army Region expressed deep condolences to the family of Sergeant Major Peerayut Nawilai Charoen, or Sergeant 'Queue', from the 2nd Artillery Battalion, 2nd King's Guard Artillery Regiment, who died while defending sovereignty at the Aranyaprathet border area, Sa Kaeo province. The First Army Region honored this brave soldier as part of Thailand's mission to protect sovereignty along the Thai-Cambodian border. They pledged to conduct a dignified funeral and fully support the family’s rights and needs.
On the morning of 28 Dec 2025, military personnel from the 12th Military Circle, Chakrapong Camp, transferred Sergeant Major Peerayut's body from Chakrapong Camp Hospital to Chaophraya Abhaibhubejhr Hospital for an autopsy. Afterwards, his body was taken to Suriyaburapha, Chakrapong Camp, Mueang Prachinburi district, Prachinburi province, for a tribute ceremony honoring the brave soldier. The monks conducted the ritual of laying the funeral cloth, and military personnel formed a one-platoon honor guard.
The body was then taken to Wat Chaeng in Na Mueang subdistrict, Mueang Prachinburi district for the funeral water pouring ceremony at 3:00 p.m. and the Buddhist chanting ceremony at 7:30 p.m. from 28 to 30 Dec 2025. The cremation ceremony is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on 31 Dec 2025.
Ms. Sirakanya Meekaew, a member of the public who came to pay respects, said, “I thank the brave soldier who sacrificed his life to protect Thai soil. I will remember the sacrifice of all soldiers who have given so much for all Thai people, ensuring everyone has a warm place to sleep and enough food to eat.”
