
A pilgrimage van returning from a cemetery cleaning ceremony collided with an 18-wheeler truck at a traffic light intersection in Samnak Bok Subdistrict, Chonburi Province. Sixteen people were injured and taken to hospital.
At 14:30 on 23 April 2026, Police Lieutenant Warut Kantha, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) of Mueang Chonburi Police Station, received a report of a collision with multiple injuries on Don Hua Lo–Ban Bueng Road near the traffic light intersection in Village 4, Samnak Bok Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chonburi Province. He and rescue teams from Trikuntham responded to the scene and found an orange-green Hino 18-wheeler truck registered in Chonburi had crashed into the right side of a bronze-grey Toyota van registered in Bangkok, which was badly damaged. Rescue workers transported a total of 16 injured people to Chularat Chonwattana Hospital. . 16 injured people were taken to the hospital.
Mr. Yongyut Pradapthong, 58, the van driver, said that after completing the cemetery cleaning ceremony and stopping for a meal, he was returning to Sa Kaeo Province. As he was about to cross the intersection, the 18-wheeler truck suddenly collided with his van. He said he did not know who ran the traffic light because the lights were not working.
Mr. Charan Bamrungchon, 58, the 18-wheeler truck driver, said:that when he arrived, his light had been green for a long time, but the other party did not brakeand just crossed the intersection. His side had the green light, but he was unsure about the other side, as he saw the lights flashing and did not know if they were malfunctioning. He followed his green light and honked his horn.. Locals reported that the problem was caused by the traffic lights malfunctioning since morning, only showing green lights. They had informed the local subdistrict head, who notified the responsible parties, but repair work had not yet started.
