A total of 635 Thai nationals have been repatriated after being arrested in Cambodia during a crackdown on scammer networks. Thai authorities received them and processed them through the Thai immigration system according to international standards and procedures.
On 30 Apr 2026 GMT+7, reporters provided updates on the repatriation of Thai nationals from Cambodia, following the earlier release of the first batch of 350 individuals earlier that evening.
Most recently, at 18:20, Cambodian authorities released the second batch of 285 remaining Thai nationals, who crossed officially through the Ban Khlong Luek permanent border checkpoint in Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province, entering Thailand. This brought the total number of repatriated Thais to 635, matching the coordinated count.
Reporters noted that after the second group arrived on the Thai side, officials immediately closed a small gate at the border checkpoint to control the area and organize operations. They then escorted all the Thai nationals into a pre-arranged screening process, with multiple checkpoints set up to handle the large number of people. This included document verification, interviews, grouping individuals, and providing initial public health care.
The atmosphere in front of the Khlong Luek checkpoint was lively but somewhat chaotic, as returning Thais carried large amounts of luggage, including bags, clothing, and personal belongings. Meanwhile, relatives had been waiting since the morning under intense heat to welcome them back. Upon reunion, many families embraced joyfully, with some shedding tears after hours of waiting.
Officials stated that the next step is to expedite the screening of all Thai nationals to completion, categorize individuals, and proceed with the relevant processes before allowing them to return to their hometowns. They will facilitate transportation and coordinate with relevant agencies to provide assistance if needed.
This event represents another example of cooperation between Thai and Cambodian authorities in repatriating Thai nationals. Despite delays and tensions earlier in the day, the transfer was ultimately completed with the full expected number returned.
,The Royal Thai ArmyFacebook page also posted about the matter, stating that the Thai nationals arrested during the crackdown on online scammer networks have now fully crossed back through the Khlong Luek border checkpoint in Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province, totaling 635 individuals.
The reception process follows the NRM mechanism for systematic screening, grouping, and assistance, emphasizing safety, human rights, and human dignity. It integrates cooperation among the Royal Thai Army, Royal Thai Police, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, and other related agencies.
This operation reflects Thailand's readiness to care for citizens affected by transnational crime and to enhance measures against human trafficking, online fraud, and to protect Thai nationals fairly and efficiently through state procedures.
