
The body of a 7-year-old girl with bruises on her face was found lying face down in a rubber plantation in Sangkhla Buri district, Kanchanaburi province, after her family had been searching for her following her disappearance for two days. On 1 June 2026, Pol. Col. Santi Pitaksakul, superintendent of Sangkhla Buri police station, along with patrol officers, were on duty in their jurisdiction. During their patrol, they encountered a group of villagers requesting help beside Highway 323 between Thong Pha Phum and Sangkhla Buri districts in Village 4, Prang Phue subdistrict, Sangkhla Buri district, Kanchanaburi province. The villagers reported discovering the body of a girl lying dead and emitting a foul odor in a dense rubber tree forest.
Pol. Col. Santi Pitaksakul, superintendent of Sangkhla Buri police station, promptly coordinated with doctors from Sangkhla Buri Hospital and volunteer staff from the Pitak Kanchanaburi Foundation to come to the scene and conduct a joint forensic examination.
At the scene, the body of a 7-year-old girl was found lying face down, wearing a black shirt and white pants. A pair of pink sandals was found nearby. The body had two wounds under the chin and bruises on the face, resembling injuries from a blunt object.
Pol. Col. Santi Pitaksakul assigned two police teams to spread out and investigate, gathering information and evidence to identify and apprehend the perpetrator for prosecution.
During questioning, the victim’s 40-year-old mother said that after her daughter went missing, she reported it to Sangkhla Buri police and enlisted the help of villagers to search. The girl had said she was going out to buy something to eat but then disappeared for two days. The mother confirmed she had been actively searching but sadly found her daughter’s body today.
Authorities have detained a 45-year-old Myanmar man living near the scene as a suspect. Drug tests revealed purple-colored urine, indicating drug use. He was taken for extended questioning at Sangkhla Buri police station. His initial statements were inconsistent. Police are continuing to collect evidence to identify the perpetrator and bring them to justice swiftly.
