Khao Laem Ya-Mu Ko Samet National Park Addresses Greenish White Foam Found Along Mae Ramphueng Beach

"Khao Laem Ya-Mu Ko Samet National Park" Clarifies the issue of natural greenish white foam spread along Mae Ramphueng Beach, confirming it is foam from dead phytoplankton washed ashore by waves.

On 21 June 2026, the Facebook pagePR Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservationposted a statement saying, "Khao Laem Ya-Mu Ko Samet National Park issues a public notice regarding the natural foam found, reassuring tourists visiting Mae Ramphueng Beach.

Monitoring natural changes alongside maintaining tourist hygiene is a key duty of national park staff. When natural phenomena that may cause concern arise, promptly investigating and providing accurate information is essential. This helps build understanding, reduce alarm, and advise appropriate safety measures for all visitors.

Recently, Khao Laem Ya-Mu Ko Samet National Park in Rayong Province issued an educational notice for tourists after greenish white foam was found scattered along the tide line at Mae Ramphueng Beach. Upon inspection, it was confirmed that the foam comes from dead algae or phytoplankton washed ashore by waves. The foam is distinctively greenish with algae fragments and organic matter mixed in, distributed along the wave wash line, and contains no oil residues. This phenomenon typically occurs after heavy rain, during several calm days at sea, or when nutrient levels rise causing small phytoplankton blooms.

The national park further stated that this phenomenon is normally not harmful to humans. However, for safety, tourists with sensitive skin or open wounds are advised to avoid swimming at this time. Park staff are closely monitoring the situation and ensuring safety along the beach so visitors can relax with confidence and maximum safety."
