Chonburi faces another blow as farm gate prices for mixed chicken eggs rise by 6 baht per tray. Vendors at Sriracha fresh market are trying to absorb the costs, worried about the impact on consumers.
On 6 July 2026, reporters surveyed egg prices at Sriracha fresh market, Sriracha district, Chonburi province, after the Egg Farmers Cooperative Network announced a price increase of 0.20 baht per egg or 6 baht per tray, effective from today (6 July 2026).
The survey found that most egg sellers in the market are still selling at the old prices because they received stock before the price announcement. However, retail prices are expected to gradually increase within 1-2 days to reflect higher costs.
Ms. Duangjai, owner of Duangjai Fresh Eggs shop, revealed that the shop has not yet raised retail prices but has been informed by the farm producers about a 6 baht per tray increase in wholesale prices. She expects to adjust retail prices within about two days accordingly. Prices will be adjusted by egg size based on cost to minimize the impact on consumers.
Current retail prices for eggs at the shop are: size 0 at 126 baht per tray, size 1 at 120 baht, size 2 at 114 baht, size 3 at 108 baht, and size 4 at 98 baht per tray.
Ms. Duangjai added that the price increase is believed to be due to market forces and rising production costs. As prices rise, most consumers have started buying fewer eggs, selecting only what is necessary. This situation forces sellers to bear higher costs while trying to keep selling prices stable as long as possible to help ease the public’s cost of living burden.
