A 1-year-4-month-old child was seriously injured after being run over by a pickup truck while sitting on a toy vehicle. Authorities rushed the injured child to the hospital. The 70-year-old driver recounted the moment of the accident, admitting he did not see the child. Police collected evidence and took the driver in for questioning to clarify the incident.
At 15:00 on 8 July 2026, Police Lieutenant Panchai Wannsri, deputy investigation officer of Si Racha Police Station, Si Racha District, Chonburi Province, received a report of a pickup truck losing control and striking a 1-year-4-month-old girl at Soi Khum Ta Chan, Ban Nong Kham, Nong Kho Subdistrict, Si Racha District, Chonburi. The child was in critical condition. Upon receiving the report, he promptly coordinated with the Phiao Yiang Tai Si Racha rescue unit and rushed to the scene to investigate.
Upon arrival, a blue Isuzu D-Max pickup truck with Chonburi license plates was parked at the scene. Mr. Nimit, 70, identified himself as the driver. Nearby, a 1-year-4-month-old girl was found injured. It was learned that the girl had been sitting and playing on a toy car when the pickup truck turned and ran over her. She was in critical condition with no pulse.
The rescue team immediately contacted medical staff from Phyathai Si Racha Hospital to provide support at the scene. After the medical team arrived, they transported the injured child to Phyathai Si Racha Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
When interviewed, the pickup truck driver said that before the accident, the girl was sitting on a toy car. He was turning the vehicle near a coconut tree where the girl was sitting, but admitted he did not see her. He then reversed the vehicle and the tire ran over the child. He felt the tire run over something, stopped the vehicle, and went to check, realizing he had run over the girl sitting on the toy car.
Initially, police recorded photos of the accident scene as evidence before taking the driver in for preliminary questioning. They will continue investigating to determine the true cause of the accident.
