Chonburi Authorities and Police Join Forces to Crack Down on Crime, Seizing 71 Illegal Guns and Numerous Ammunition

Chonburi's administrative and police forces have united to combat all forms of crime under government policy. Since June 2026, they have seized 88 firearms, including 71 illegal guns and 209 rounds of ammunition, in their operations.

At 11:00 a.m. on 17 Aug at the Chonburi Provincial Police headquarters meeting room, Mr. Narit Niramaiwong, Governor of Chonburi, along with Mr. Isra Charoenchasri, Deputy Governor of Chonburi, Police Major General Pongphan Wongmanithes, Commander of Chonburi Provincial Police, Police Colonel Pathikorn Sorchai, Deputy Commander, Police Colonel Wasurat Chaitheerapat, Deputy Commander, Mr. Somchai Wijit, Advisor to Provincial Police Region 2 and member of Chonburi Police Advisory Board, Mr. Phasakorn Kritayaraksakul, Chairman of Saensuk Police Advisory Board, and several police station commanders under Chonburi Provincial Police attended.

Governor Narit Niramaiwong stated that Chonburi is advancing the Prime Minister’s policy by integrating administrative and police forces as one to prevent and suppress all forms of crime, including drug offenses, general crime, cybercrime, influential figures, and offenses related to foreigners and nominee companies. This effort goes hand in hand with ensuring the safety of citizens’ lives and property, while building confidence among residents, tourists, and the business sector.

From June 2026 to present, authorities have handled 1,231 drug cases, arresting 1,260 suspects and seizing 41,008 methamphetamine tablets, 3,902.986 grams of crystal meth, 931.46 grams of ketamine, 201 ecstasy tablets, and 500,000 grams of cannabis. They also confiscated drug network assets valued at 95.4 million baht within 90 days, ranking first in Provincial Police Region 2. Since 1 October 2025, the total value of seized assets has exceeded 204 million baht.


In cybercrime, 37 cases have been prosecuted with 45 arrests, 26 fraudulent bank accounts investigated, and assets worth over 12.99 million baht seized or frozen. Meanwhile, efforts to suppress influential figures and serious crimes involved six suspects, resolved 9 out of 12 informal debt issues, and arrested 48 offenders. Regarding nominee companies and foreign business violations, 96 companies were inspected, with 24 found guilty and 22 prosecuted.

Authorities also inspected 463 establishments in tourist areas and monitored 20 incidents involving tourists. They held 57 coordination meetings, conducted 1,759 patrols to prevent incidents, and organized 149 community policing events.

Regarding firearm-related crime prevention and suppression, several incidents involving firearms have caused numerous injuries and deaths. The Prime Minister has prioritized firearm crime as an urgent government agenda due to the direct threat firearms pose to public safety. Chonburi Province, together with Chonburi Provincial Police, has intensified measures. Between 1 June and 16 August 2026, they seized 88 firearms and 209 rounds of ammunition, including 71 unregistered or illegal guns (80.7%) and 17 registered firearms (19.3%). The goal is to prevent dangerous weapons from being used in crimes and reduce risks to the lives and property of the public.
