This is to accommodate personnel and support the mission of visiting Thailand.
This visit involves about 5,000 US Navy personnel. After docking, the troops will disembark in phases according to the planned schedule before proceeding to various locations. Some are scheduled to travel to Pattaya City in Chonburi Province, a major tourist destination. Pattaya city officials are preparing to welcome the arriving personnel.
This docking was coordinated among related agencies including port authorities, the navy, security agencies, and local administration to facilitate operations and maintain security throughout the period the ship and personnel are in the area.
Pier C0, where USS Abraham Lincoln docked, is managed by Laem Chabang International Ro-Ro Terminal Co., Ltd., which holds the rights to invest in, operate, and manage the port. The contract was signed on 29 Aug 2005 and became effective on 1 Sep 2005, with operations commencing around Feb 2007.
The port has a quay length of about 500 meters and a depth of approximately -16 meters from mean sea level (MSL). It is designated as a terminal for Ro/Ro cargo vessels and general cargo ships, including general cargo ships carrying containers with a limit of no more than 50 TEU per voyage.
In terms of cargo handling capacity, the port can accommodate about 1 million revenue tons of general cargo annually and about 1.1 million Ro/Ro vehicles per year, demonstrating Laem Chabang port's capability to handle ships and logistics operations at an international level.
