The Deputy Director of Laem Chabang Port revealed tightened security measures after the ship USS Abraham Lincoln of the U.S. military docked, explaining that the area is closed to the public due to the ship’s military significance and the need for high-level security.
On 2 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Weerachat Puttharaksa, Deputy Director of Laem Chabang Port, disclosed the security measures following the arrival of the U.S. Navy’s nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln earlier that morning.
Mr. Weerachat stated that because the USS Abraham Lincoln is a military government vessel, strict security measures are necessary. These include coordinated actions among government agencies, relevant officials, and enhanced port security, with increased patrol frequency and intensified enforcement.
Regarding public interest in viewing the ship, Mr. Weerachat acknowledged the curiosity but explained that due to the ship’s military importance and the need for heightened security, public access near the vessel is not permitted.
“We sincerely apologize that we cannot welcome or allow the public to view the ship, as this is a matter of security,” Mr. Weerachat said.
When asked about continued public interest in visiting, Mr. Weerachat emphasized that entry to Laem Chabang Port at this time follows Chonburi province’s integrated security policy. The public cannot access the port area near the ship because it is a restricted zone under strict security measures.
Additionally, the Deputy Director sent encouragement to the U.S. Navy personnel who will be disembarking in large numbers and advised the public to follow the ship’s status and images via news and various media channels, avoiding the need to enter the port area.
