The latest update at 05:00 on 10 Sep 2023: Police Corporal Rachat, or “Corporal Folk,” son of Lieutenant Sergeant Thatsapong, resumed negotiations. This time he approached the house more closely. At times, the son saw his father standing near a window and tried to persuade him to surrender peacefully, assuring him of safety. The son also frequently called his father, who answered, signaling improving communication. Police began deploying forces to surround the house.
At 06:10, Corporal Rachat asked to speak with his father alone, moving closer to the house and shouting to him continuously.
By 06:20, Sergeant Oh came out and sat near the front of the house. His son approached, embraced him, and they cried together. Police then moved in to control the situation and took Sergeant Oh into custody, transporting him to Bang Lamung Police Station for further questioning. The entire operation, from siege to arrest, lasted more than 20 hours after the shooting incident.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Pongphan Wongmaneethes, Chonburi Provincial Police Chief, stated that the suspect surrendered peacefully without resistance or further casualties. The son successfully persuaded him using reasoned discussion. The suspect is currently being questioned. Initial inquiries found no evidence of drug use or mental illness; the incident stemmed from family issues.
