A tragic incident near Ban Noen Sung Police Station in Chanthaburi province involved a 42-year-old man who slit his wife's throat to death at a drink stall before fleeing by motorcycle. He was later found dead by suicide. The suspected cause was a prolonged domestic dispute.
At approximately 10:00 a.m. on 17 September 2026, the emergency call center 191 received a report of an assault where a woman was severely injured and bleeding heavily. The incident took place at a beverage stall near Ban Noen Sung Police Post in Tha Mai district, Chanthaburi. Police patrol and rapid response teams, along with Sawang Katanyu Rescue workers from Chanthaburi, promptly arrived to investigate.
Later, Pol. Maj. Gen. Phadungsak Raksasuk, Commander of the Chanthaburi Provincial Police, arrived at the scene personally and ordered officers to intensify efforts to apprehend the suspect.
The scene was a beverage stall located near Ban Noen Sung Police Post. Inside, a woman was found kneeling and collapsed face down with heavy bleeding. Officers confirmed she was deceased and identified her as Ms. Janya Boonchu, also known as Pla, aged 40. Initial examination revealed a severe wound on her neck resembling a large cut from a sharp object.
Preliminary investigations identified the suspect as the victim's husband, Mr. Wirat Wisetburi, also known as Khong, aged 42. After the incident, he fled the area riding a black Honda Scoopy i motorcycle registered in Chanthaburi. Authorities cordoned off the area, collected evidence, and reviewed CCTV footage along probable escape routes to track him down for legal proceedings.
Subsequently, officials found the body of Mr. Wirat Wisetburi, the suspect, who had died by hanging from a tree in Sa Luang area, Village No. 2, Chamun subdistrict, Makham district, Chanthaburi. His motorcycle used during the escape was also found nearby.
However, at the location where the body was found, the knife used to kill the wife was not recovered. It is initially believed the weapon resembled a durian-cutting knife. Authorities are searching and reviewing the suspect's escape path to find the weapon and additional evidence.
Police and related officials are currently examining the crime scene, conducting a forensic autopsy, and thoroughly collecting evidence to compile the case file and reconstruct the full sequence of events.
The initial motive appears to stem from ongoing marital conflicts between the husband and wife, which had escalated over time before the violent event. However, the exact cause and trigger remain under investigation as police gather further evidence to officially clarify the facts.
