A six-wheel truck carrying oil refinery workers overturned multiple times, landing wheels up off the road in Chonburi, injuring 14 people, including one seriously. The accident is believed to have been caused by slippery roads due to rain. Workers described the moment of the crash and said they were still shocked.
At 06:40 on 22 Sep 2026, Police Lieutenant Natthayan Chantawong, Deputy Inspector (Investigation), received a report of a shuttle truck carrying factory employees overturning, injuring over 10 people. The incident occurred near Ban Noen Kamnan on Highway 36 (Pattaya-Rayong), inbound to Pattaya at km 3+600, Village 3, Nong Plalai Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. Upon notification, he rushed to the scene accompanied by rescue vehicles from Sawang Boriboon Foundation, Pattaya City, and over 10 ambulances from various hospitals.
At the scene, a white Isuzu six-wheel employee shuttle truck from Maha Sarakham was found overturned wheels up off the roadside, badly damaged. More than 10 injured people were scattered around, lying in pain and crying out. Medical and rescue teams quickly assisted and transported them to nearby hospitals. The total injured numbered 14—12 men and 2 women—all employees of an oil refinery in Laem Chabang. One of the 14 suffered serious (red) injuries.
Chaiya Mayotha, 56, the driver who sustained minor injuries, told police he was picking up employees from Rayong Province to deliver them to an oil refinery in Laem Chabang. Approaching the accident site while driving at about 70 km/h, the vehicle lost control, swayed side to side, then overturned off the road, injuring 15 workers onboard. The likely cause is slippery roads due to rain.
Workers riding in the truck said the vehicle was traveling normally when suddenly it began to sway violently, the rear sliding sharply from right to left before losing control and plunging off the road, flipping multiple times. They admitted being shocked by the incident and prayed for the safety of all their coworkers.
Reporters obtained CCTV footage about 100 meters from the accident scene, showing light rain at the time. At 06:31, the six-wheel truck involved passed in front of the camera, then braked suddenly, causing loss of control and resulting in the crash and multiple injuries.
Police are currently conducting a thorough investigation at the scene to determine the exact cause of the accident.
