On 22 Sep 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported a dramatic incident in the eastern sea region where the fishing boat named S. Kanjanawari 888 was caught in a storm and strong waves, sinking about four hours away from Samaesan Channel, Sattahip district, Chonburi province.
The vessel had about 20 crew members stranded in the sea. So far, authorities have rescued approximately 13 people safely, but about seven remain missing, swept away by currents, and their fate is unknown.
Initially, the First Naval Area Command, along with local fishing networks from Samaesan Channel and nearby areas, mobilized boats to urgently search and provide assistance against the clock amid strong waves and winds. Authorities are currently moving the boat back to shore.
