Flooding in Rayong has led to a disaster area declaration covering 15 subdistricts in Klaeng District and one subdistrict in Mueang District. Klaeng Hospital has requested additional sandbags after floodwaters surrounded the area. The hospital's stock of patient food supplies remains for only three days.
At 14:30 on 27 Sep 2026 GMT+7, reporters at Rayong province reported that Mr. Traiphop Wongtrairat, Governor of Rayong, visited Klaeng Hospital to inspect the flood situation. Dr. Wichai Sriutharawong, director of Klaeng Hospital, accompanied the inspection around the flooded hospital grounds. They found that floodwater had inundated the hospital area to about 10 cm, including the kitchen area preparing food for 200 patients, though the outpatient building remained unflooded.
The director of Klaeng Hospital requested additional sandbags as floodwater levels continued rising on Sukhumvit Road in front of the hospital. He also requested boxed meals for patients and their relatives because the kitchen in the low-lying area had flooded. Furthermore, the hospital's stock of food ingredients for patient meals was sufficient for only three days, necessitating the request for boxed meals. The local market supplying these ingredients was also flooded, requiring urgent sourcing of new supplies.
Earlier, at 12:15, the Governor of Rayong inspected the flooding in Klaeng District, especially along Sukhumvit Road and Route 344 near Klaeng Hospital to the Prasae Intersection heading toward Chanthaburi province. Floodwaters remained high along the entire route, making vehicle passage impossible.
The Governor convened a meeting with local administrators, village chiefs, municipal executives, police from Klaeng Police Station, and rescue personnel from Buddhachart Songkro Klaeng at the disaster assistance center in front of the Shell gas station at the Pho Thong traffic light intersection in Klaeng town municipality. The meeting focused on closely monitoring the situation, accelerating the evacuation of affected residents trapped in their homes, and intensifying public communication to downstream communities to prepare for the ongoing flood crisis.
Meanwhile, the Prasae Reservoir in Rayong has overflowed through four spillway gates since 08:00 today, causing water to flow downstream into Klaeng District. Because the water volume has exceeded the reservoir's capacity, officials have had to release 4 cubic meters per second. Similarly, the Khlong La-ok Reservoir is being drained by 25 percent. Authorities have issued warnings for residents to prepare for the large water volumes.
Flooding in Klaeng District has occurred at eight locations: Ban Na subdistrict, with about 40 cm of water affecting roughly 60 households; Thung Kwai Kin subdistrict, with about 50 cm of water affecting approximately 300 households; and Thang Kwian subdistrict (Muang Klaeng municipality), with about 50 cm of water affecting around 300 households. The Governor of Rayong has declared a disaster area covering 15 subdistricts in Klaeng District and one subdistrict in Mueang Rayong District.
