The flood situation in Ban Sang Subdistrict, Prachinburi Province, has worsened as incoming water masses merge, flooding nearly 100% of the area. Water levels continue to rise steadily despite no rainfall locally. The situation is expected to be more severe than in 2011, with preparations underway for a public warning system.
On 2 Oct 2026 GMT+7, reporters noted that the flood situation in Ban Sang Subdistrict Municipality, Prachinburi Province, remains concerning. Water from multiple areas has converged, affecting nearly the entire municipality. Residents are hurriedly moving belongings to higher ground as water levels keep rising, despite no heavy rainfall in the area.
In an interview, Anan Boonyuen, Mayor of Ban Sang Subdistrict Municipality, said the situation is nearly 100% critical due to water flowing in from multiple directions—from Kabin Buri, Si Maha Phot, Mueang Prachinburi districts and nearby areas—converging at Ban Sang. This has made it difficult for the area to absorb the water. The main Prachinburi-Ban Sang road is almost completely flooded, with only the median strip and a large traffic light intersection remaining dry. Some areas just began flooding yesterday, yet water levels continue to rise despite no rainfall in Ban Sang. The mayor noted most of the water is coming from upstream areas.
Heavily affected areas include the traffic light intersection and the town center, where strong water flow is making travel difficult. Over the past two days, water levels outside the town have risen by more than one meter. River levels remain manageable, but the volume of surrounding water flowing in is a concern. At Ban Sang Market, an old economic center next to the Bang Pakong River, floodwaters have not yet entered, but the municipality is quickly placing about 1-meter-high sandbag barriers and installing three water pumps for protection.
The mayor expressed concern that if the incoming water continues to accumulate, the barriers may not hold. Ban Sang Subdistrict Municipality includes seven communities, all currently affected, with travel in and out becoming difficult.. He also assessed that this flood event is more severe than the 2011 floods.
Initially, the municipality has prepared a public alert system using loudspeakers, while the disaster prevention and mitigation department sends SMS warnings to residents throughout the day to help them prepare to move belongings and evacuate if necessary.
