Khao Kheow Open Zoo shares the good news of welcoming its newest member, a healthy male white rhino calf, and invites the public to enjoy voting for its name from four choices: Tractor, Trailer, Tractor, and Backhoe until 27 Oct 2026 GMT+7.
At 09:00 on 20 Oct 2026 GMT+7 at Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Si Racha district, Chonburi province, Mr. Narongwit Chodchoi, the zoo director, revealed that on 22 Sep 2026, which coincided with "World Rhino Day,"
Khao Kheow Open Zoo received wonderful news with the birth of a new male white rhino calf. The mother, named Grietjie, is 12 years old, and the father, Sudi, is 21 years old. The calf is currently healthy but has not yet been given an official name.
The zoo invites the public and tourists to join the fun by voting to name the white rhino calf. The four name options are Tractor, Trailer, Tractor, and Backhoe.
Voters have the chance to win special prizes: one cash prize of 2,000 baht, one free one-year admission ticket to Khao Kheow Open Zoo, and five rhino plush toy souvenirs.

The zoo will draw the lucky winner from those who voted for the name with the highest votes and will officially announce the results on 3 Nov 2026 GMT+7 via the Khao Kheow Open Zoo Facebook page.
The zoo director added that this new white rhino calf is the sibling of “Power” or “Rothang,” born from the same parents. This is the third successful white rhino calf bred at Khao Kheow Open Zoo. Currently, the zoo cares for six white rhinos: four males and two females.
Regarding its development, the white rhino calf is still in the nursery area, closely monitored by veterinarians and staff to ensure continuous growth. It is not yet open for public viewing to ensure safety and allow the mother and calf time to adjust.
