Rescue teams and Naval Command Region 1 assembled to search for and save two fishermen whose fishing boat capsized at sea near Koh Rin, Chonburi. The men drifted in the water for more than six hours.
At 03:00 on 1 Nov 2026, the Maritime National Security Operations Center Region 1 (Naval Command Region 1) received a report of a small aluminum fishing boat, 14 feet long, that had capsized at sea near Koh Rin, Bang Sare Subdistrict, Sattahip District, Chonburi. Two men were floating in the sea, being swept by currents toward Koh Larn before contact was lost.
Later, Petty Sergeant Major Nattachanon Chamnakul, head of the Marine Disaster Prevention Unit (Pattaya-Koh Larn Marine Rescue), deployed two rescue boats and over 15 personnel for an urgent search lasting more than four hours. They found the men between Koh Marwichai and Koh King Badan, about 7-8 nautical miles from Koh Larn and 12 nautical miles from Pattaya.
Initially, the victims were two Thai men aged about 30-40, wearing life jackets, clinging to foam and plastic boxes, appearing exhausted and nearly out of strength. Rescuers helped them aboard and took them back to Laem Bali Hai Pier in Pattaya. First aid was administered, and they declined hospital treatment.
The two men said they launched their small aluminum fishing boat from Jomtien Beach to fish near Koh Rin. Around midnight, strong waves caused the boat to capsize and sink rapidly. They tried calling for help on a mobile phone, but seawater damaged it, causing it to shut down. They were then swept toward Koh Larn, floating in the sea for over six hours until rescued, surviving miraculously.
