In deep sorrow, the family moved the body of "Nong Aya" a 15-year-old golfer who was struck by lightning on the golf course to undergo funeral rites in accordance with Islamic customs, while "Nong Aya's father" admitted he has not yet come to terms with the loss.

At 09:00 on 3 Nov 2026 GMT+7, reporters noted the family moved the body of "Nong Aya" or Aya Warin Pradab Yati, a 15-year-old youth golfer who died after being struck by lightning during a golf tournament in Chachoengsao Province, from their home to the Darul Ibadah Mosque in Pattaya, Chonburi Province, to conduct funeral rites according to Islamic traditions. Relatives, close friends, and both senior and peer golfers came to pay their last respects.

Inside the mosque, the atmosphere was filled with grief. Attendees offered support to the family mourning the sudden loss of their beloved daughter. Especially among the group of golfers who had trained and competed alongside Nong Aya, all gathered to express their condolences for the passing of this promising athlete.

The incident occurred at a golf course in Don Ko Ka Subdistrict, Bang Nam Priao District, Chachoengsao Province, during a youth golf competition. A lightning strike caused severe injuries to Nong Aya and a 31-year-old female caddie. Emergency responders performed CPR and rushed them to the hospital, but Nong Aya later passed away.

Earlier, Mr. Phatthanapong Pradab Yati, Nong Aya's father, revealed that his daughter was a quiet child but very determined. She was deeply committed to golf, practicing five to six days a week, including cycling, physical conditioning, and golf skills training alongside her studies.

He admitted he still cannot accept the loss, especially when recalling his daughter's condition after the incident. He urged the golf course and event organizers to review and strengthen safety measures to prevent similar incidents from happening to other athletes.

The funeral rites were conducted according to Islamic traditions, with family, relatives, and close friends gathering to bid Nong Aya a final farewell.
