The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in collaboration with OTA platforms, is ready to build traveler confidence, offering convenient and secure travel in Thailand through the Trusted Thailand symbol.
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports, through the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), has officially launched the Trusted Thailand symbol—a mark designed to assure tourists, especially Chinese visitors, of safety during their travels in Thailand. The certification involves inspection and evaluation of safety measures in businesses, covering four key areas: 1) General security for tourists, such as CCTV and fire prevention; 2) Secure payment controls, including acceptance of Mobile Banking, Alipay, or WeChatPay; 3) Foreign language communication, with staff able to speak foreign languages or use translation devices; and 4) Safe and convenient access to the business. The certification applies to four types of businesses: 1. Hotels, accommodations, and homestays; 2. Restaurants and dining establishments; 3. Department stores and shopping centers; and 4. Recreational venues and tourist attractions.
To build traveler confidence through the Trusted Thailand symbol, TAT has partnered with various OTA platforms including Agoda, Trip.com Group, and Meituan, enabling tourists to easily access and book services at certified businesses. Initially, the certified businesses available for booking through these platforms are primarily hotels and accommodations.
Furthermore, TAT recognizes the importance of using effective publicity tools in today's media environment, such as having a presenter, influential figures, or celebrities as key attractors in promotional media to draw attention from fan groups and broaden awareness. Therefore, for the Trusted Thailand symbol campaign, TAT has engaged Phai Piraya Malison, a well-known actress and model popular internationally and especially in China, as the Brand Ambassador. Promotional videos featuring her have been produced, leveraging her large social media following and fan base abroad, particularly among Chinese tourists—a key market for Thailand's tourism.
The Trusted Thailand symbol will play a crucial role in reviving and stimulating foreign tourism, especially from China, while taking care to impress tourists through effective communication that reaches a wide audience. This aligns with maintaining a positive image that welcomes visitors traveling within Thailand during the upcoming High Season.
