Korat Governor Launches City Lab Korat, Officially Piloting Clean Energy Student Shuttle Buses

The Korat governor officially launched City Lab Korat, piloting clean energy student shuttle buses, aiming to create a smart Korat city that reduces pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.

Nakhon Ratchasima, 13:30 today (12 Jan 2026) at the Art Gallery and Exhibition, Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima District, Mr. Anupong Suksamanit, Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima, chaired the opening ceremony of the City Lab Korat Kick-off Event and the official launch of the clean energy student shuttle bus fleet. This is a collaborative project among Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Nakhon Ratchasima Municipality, and the German international cooperation agency. City Lab Korat, or Korat City Lab, operates under the Thai-German cooperation project on energy, transportation, and climate change (TGC-EMC). It serves as an experimental platform that opens space for government, private sector, and educational institutions to jointly develop and test practical solutions for transportation challenges in Nakhon Ratchasima, focusing on reducing greenhouse gases and upgrading the city toward smart city status.

Mr. Anupong Suksamanit, Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima, said, “This project represents a new working model that creates opportunities for all sectors to learn through hands-on experience, especially the pilot project for clean energy student shuttle buses, which prioritizes the care of children and youth.”

“This will help reduce traffic congestion in front of schools, lessen the burden on parents, and reduce air pollution for the health of the community. Two pilot projects aimed at clean energy will be tested from January to March 2026: 1. Clean energy school buses to promote safe student transportation and support clean energy use; 2. Promotion of electric tuk-tuks combined with on-demand systems to provide an environmentally friendly short-distance travel option and enhance the city’s innovative image,” Mr. Anupong added.
