Mega Halal Bangkok 2026 was grandly launched, bringing together four major organizations to develop Thailand into Asia's largest halal center, set for 15-17 July 2026.
On 4 February 2026, Comasia Co., Ltd., together with global strategic partners Shapers Malaysia, the Thai Muslim Traders Association (TMTA), and the National Food Institute (NFI), held a press conference to launch Mega Halal Bangkok 2026 under the concept "Forging the Future." They announced readiness to elevate Thailand as Asia's leading halal industry hub and to drive the halal economy as a new global market engine. The event will take place from 15-17 July 2026 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.
Mr. Peter Cheng, Director of Comasia Co., Ltd., revealed that the global halal economy is continuously growing and is projected to reach US$3.2 trillion by 2026. This market serves over 2 billion Muslims and general consumers concerned with quality and safety. Halal today is not only a religious requirement but a lifestyle and a huge business opportunity for Thai entrepreneurs.
Mega Halal Bangkok 2026 is a synergistic collaboration among four main organizations: Comasia, with over 30 years of expertise in international trade shows; Shapers Malaysia, a halal market leader and pioneer of MIHAS; NFI (National Food Institute), responsible for production standards; and TMTA, a trade association connecting Thai SMEs to global markets.
A highlight of the 2026 event is relocating to the heart of Bangkok at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center to accommodate international buyers. The focus is on a B2B (Business-to-Business) format aimed at delivering real business outcomes through matchmaking activities, selecting quality buyers with real decision-making power from around the world to meet Thai entrepreneurs.
Dato' Mohammad Chukri Abdullah, founder of MIHAS and chief strategist from Shapers Malaysia, stated that Thailand has the potential to be the "Halal Kitchen of the World" due to its abundance of raw materials and diverse products. This collaboration will help promote Thai products on a global platform, aiming to foster cooperation between the Thai and Malaysian governments to jointly advance the region's growth.
Mr. Marut Mekloy, President of the Thai Muslim Traders Association (TMTA), said that currently Thailand has over 200,000 halal-certified products, 95% of which are produced by non-Muslim entrepreneurs. TMTA focuses on promoting halal as a "national asset" commercially.
Additionally, TMTA has been recognized as a member of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD), the largest economic organization in the Muslim world covering 57 countries. This provides Thailand with new opportunities to access markets in the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) countries and major global food-exporting nations.
The event also involves cooperation from the education and innovation sectors. Associate Professor Kamron Pitak, Director of the Science Park at Prince of Songkla University, stated that the Science Park is ready to serve as an innovation bridge connecting research to business, aiming to raise Thai halal product standards and enhance competitiveness through technology.
Regarding logistics and distribution, Dr. Vincent Tan, an executive from Thahira and a halal logistics expert from Malaysia, discussed the crucial role in connecting points along the supply chain. Thahira fills gaps in cross-border transport by facilitating local regulatory compliance, building trust in payment between buyers and sellers, and guaranteeing quality.
