Chiang Rai is moving forward with economic recovery by organizing an event called "CHIANG RAI RESILIENCE EXPO 2026." The event aims to support entrepreneurs in accessing markets, generate cash flow, and restore regional confidence.
On 21 March 2026 GMT+7, it was reported that Chiang Rai Province, through the Chiang Rai Provincial Commerce Office, will hold the "CHIANG RAI RESILIENCE EXPO 2026: Trade Moves, Economy Drives" under the integrated project to restore and stimulate Chiang Rai's economy following the flood situation. The event will take place from 28 March to 1 April 2026 GMT+7 at the Youth Training Ground in Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province.
This event is part of the government's economic stimulus policy following the major floods in Chiang Rai in 2024, which severely impacted trade, tourism, and local entrepreneurs. Chiang Rai Province has promptly implemented systematic economic recovery measures focusing on creating market opportunities and increasing income for local entrepreneurs. The expo gathers over 200 entrepreneurs, covering diverse goods and services such as OTOP products, processed agricultural goods, GI products, BCG products, Chiang Rai brands, community products, as well as service and tourism businesses, providing direct access to consumers and expanding market awareness widely.
The project's key objectives are "Economic Recovery – Creating Opportunities – Connecting Markets," aiming to enhance the competitiveness of entrepreneurs, develop new trade channels, connect business networks, investment, and tourism, and elevate Chiang Rai's economy to strong, sustainable growth, in line with the national economic and social development plan and provincial development strategies.
A highlight of the event is the business matching activity held both onsite and online, inviting at least 30 buyers, investors, and entrepreneurs from domestic and international markets to connect with no fewer than 50 Chiang Rai entrepreneurs. This is expected to generate tangible trade opportunities, create trade value, and lead to sustainable long-term business collaborations.
The event features product exhibitions and sales inside an air-conditioned dome for participant convenience throughout the activities. There is also a sales promotion called "The More You Shop, The More You Win," with prizes totaling over 500,000 baht, alongside entertainment including cultural performances and mini-concerts by famous artists to create a lively shopping atmosphere and attract both locals and tourists.
Overall, the event is expected to stimulate spending, generate cash flow locally, increase entrepreneurs' income, restore confidence, and enhance Chiang Rai's image, laying the foundation for becoming the economic, trade, and tourism hub of upper northern Thailand in the future.
