Satun hosts the grand "Satun Halal Street 2026" event to elevate the halal city to an international level, connecting ASEAN tourism, generating income, and enhancing the quality of life for local communities.
At the Satun Geopark Gateway Tourist Service Center, Mr. Kanit Kongchuay, Governor of Satun, presided over the opening of the 7th "Satun Halal Street 2026" amid a lively atmosphere. The event was attended by Mr. Samrit Liangprasit, President of Satun Provincial Administrative Organization; Mr. Winardi H. Lucky, Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Songkhla Province; Mr. Shaiful Naszri Abdul Wahid, representative from the Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok; the Assistant Secretary of the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Centre; the Vice Chairman of the Satun Islamic Committee; as well as government officials, private sector representatives, and the public.
"Satun Halal Street 2026" was held from 1–3 May 2026 through collaboration among Satun Provincial Administrative Organization, the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Centre, the Tourism Authority of Thailand Satun Office, Satun Community College, the Halal Institute of Prince of Songkla University, the Thai-ASEAN Halal Tourism Trade Association, the Satun Halal Food Entrepreneurs Club, and partner networks. The project aims to concretely promote halal tourism in Satun by focusing on various aspects, including halal food sales, cultural performances, dissemination of halal tourism knowledge, and publicizing the province’s tourist attractions widely. This helps generate community income, improve residents’ quality of life, and open new market opportunities linking domestic and international tourism.
The event featured panel discussions, exhibitions sharing knowledge about halal tourism, workshops, demonstrations of traditional Indonesian dishes, halal business stalls from Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia, as well as spectacular light and sound shows and cultural performances.
Additionally, the event served as a platform for local communities to showcase their potential, foster pride in Satun’s unique identity, and attract both domestic and international tourists. With the halal tourism market continuously growing, developing and upgrading halal tourism to meet international standards is a crucial opportunity to drive future economic and tourism business growth. This also helps build strong international relations within ASEAN, connecting economic, social, and cultural dimensions sustainably.
