Opening of the “100-Year Ra-Rhaeng Market” Highlights Canal-Side Identity and Local Cuisine to Boost Community Income

Pathum Thani buzzed with activity as the “100-Year Ra-Rhaeng Market” opened from 7-8 Nov 2026, highlighting the canal-side identity and local cuisine to generate income for the community.

At 09:00 on 7 November 2026, Ms. Thaniya Naipinit, Governor of Pathum Thani Province, presided over the opening of the Community Market Tourism Development and Promotion Project for Pathum Thani. Attending were Mr. Kachenthai Paengchan, Pathum Thani Provincial Development Officer; Mr. Siraphop Niyomdej, District Chief of Lat Lum Kaeo; Ms. Bussaraphorn Pankong, District Chief of Sam Khok; along with government officials, network partners, entrepreneurs, and related agencies at the 100-Year Ra-Rhaeng Market in Lat Lum Kaeo District, Pathum Thani.

The Pathum Thani Community Development Office organized this project to drive community market development in three main areas: enhancing human potential, developing market identity and standards, and linking tourism routes to generate economic value. This initiative covers five community markets: 1. 100-Year Ra-Rhaeng Market in Lat Lum Kaeo District; 2. Riverside Market in Sam Khok District; 3. OTOP Nawatwithi Ban Khlong Sam Community Tourism Market in Khlong Luang District; 4. Khlong 12 Hok Wa Market in Lam Luk Ka District; and 5. Pathum Thani Market at Thep Pathum Park in Mueang Pathum Thani District.

The 100-Year Ra-Rhaeng Market is a canal community market in Ra-Rhaeng Subdistrict, Lat Lum Kaeo District, known for its distinctive identity in history, canal-side lifestyle, traditional architecture, and local cuisine—key assets for developing it into a cultural tourism destination in the province.

Held from 7-8 November 2026, the event featured activities for entrepreneurs to present products and services, including a beautiful Miang Kham wrapping contest, special performances, and painting activities on materials. These aimed to create a tourism experience that reflects the community's charm, welcome visitors, and generate ongoing, sustainable income for the community.
