Mae Kampong Village is bustling as tourists flock to experience the cold atmosphere and relax during the 2026 New Year festival, resulting in heavy traffic and fully booked homestay accommodations throughout the village.
On 31 Dec 2025 GMT+7, reporters noted that Mae Kampong Village, a famous tourist spot in Huay Kaew Subdistrict, Mae On District, Chiang Mai Province, saw a large influx of tourists during the five-day year-end 2025 to New Year 2026 holiday. Visitors came to enjoy the cold air and sea of mist from last night through this morning, causing heavy congestion of vehicles, including cars and motorcycles, with no parking available in the village.
Mr. Sanan Noita, a local tour guide for Mae Kampong Village and operator of the shuttle pickup service to Mae Kampong and Kiew Fin, advised tourists driving personal vehicles to park at designated lots and use the community shuttle service to reach the village. He explained this is safer and more convenient due to the narrow, steep, and winding roads.
Meanwhile, the operator of Mon Than Thong Homestay near the Royal Project shared that tourists are coming both for day trips and overnight stays, resulting in full bookings for houses, homestays, and resorts. Each accommodation provider is enjoying increased income during the year-end and New Year festival.
