On 12 Jan 2026, at Doi Inthanon National Park, Chom Thong District, Chiang Mai Province, the atmosphere was bustling. Visitors eagerly ascended to feel the cold air at the summit where the lowest temperature was recorded at 3 degrees Celsius, and 4 degrees Celsius at the Kew Mae Pan viewpoint.
Today, the weather was comfortably cool with clear skies, allowing tourists who waited to see the first sunlight of the day to be rewarded. Besides breathing in the fresh air fully, they experienced the extreme cold and watched the golden first rays of the sun slowly rise above the sea of mist, creating a beautiful scene that impressed many visitors to Doi Inthanon. Information from Doi Inthanon National Park reported that on 1 Jan 2026, a total of 5,265 tourists visited the area. The Northern Meteorological Center reported that the northern region experienced cold weather with temperatures ranging from 14 to 29 degrees Celsius. Mountain summits had cold to very cold conditions with some frost, and temperatures as low as 3 to 8 degrees Celsius.
