Fire at Phrae Hospital Prompts Urgent Patient Evacuation Fire Now Under Control

A fire broke out at Phrae Hospital, with authorities mobilizing fire trucks to suppress the blaze and urgently evacuate patients to safe zones. The fire is now under control, awaiting forensic officials to inspect and determine the cause.

At 17:30 on 12 January 2026, the Phrae Narenthorn Center (emergency hotline 1669) reported a fire on the second floor of the Maitree Pracha Building at Phrae Hospital, Mueang Phrae District, Phrae Province. Upon notification, Mr. Chaisit Samritphon, Deputy Governor of Phrae Province, and Mr. Suriya Intanon, Mayor of Phrae Municipality, ordered the municipal fire department and over 20 fire trucks from neighboring local administrative organizations to respond immediately.

Upon arrival, a fire was observed on the second floor of the Maitree Pracha Building at Phrae Hospital, with heavy smoke visible. Phrae rescue units and good Samaritans worked quickly to move patients out of the building to safety. Dr. Wirawan Sringamwong, the hospital director, along with hospital staff, monitored the situation closely.

Initial findings show the fire started in a medical equipment storage room near the doctors' and nurses' quarters. Firefighters promptly sprayed water to suppress the fire and controlled it within a short time. Sub-Lieutenant Thossaphon Yotsrisai, the duty officer at Mueang Phrae Police Station, will coordinate with Phrae's forensic officials to investigate the cause of the fire further.

In this incident, Phrae Hospital staff received high praise for their efforts, as doctors, nurses, and all personnel worked diligently and cooperatively to evacuate patients to safe locations immediately after the fire broke out.
